Last day in Albuquerque. We did the following: fed llamas, visited the Museum of Nuclear Science and Whatever, shopped at a metal sculpture park, drove to Breaking Bad filming locations (junkyard and Twister’s Burritos), and ate at a Flying Star Cafe.
Of note: there was a single children’s shoe in the middle of the road near the junkyard. It was blue, white, and red, sitting right-side up. We ran over it as we left. This seems to represent a Breaking Bad location pretty concisely, I thought.
The llamas crowded us. Linda, the lady who owned them, gave us “nibbles” and told us to not feed the little ones so they wouldn’t grow up to be aggressive. They were pretty aggressive anyways. Tulip was old and very tolerant of petting and seemed to have an appetite that never ended; Suki only came at the end and was shy; Carl the little boy was quite pushy. My favorite was Whisper, a modest white one who didn’t ask for too much food. They are about eye level and will stare at us right on with their row of bottom teeth sticking out.
This metal sculpture place was a hidden gem. Life sized horses, bison, and even a dinosaur on the back of a larger dinosaur eating a small dinosaur. This young woman with airpods in her ears told her that her mother was responsible for the sculptures, and that they collected scrap metal from a place across the street.
